Elmgrove House: Linda's brother used to run this as a private school. Linda and I usually stayed in the right-hand top bedroom!
The Passage House, Topsham. Many's the balmy evening we've spent sat here by the river: fantastic sandwiches!
Last-second snap of the Globe at Blofield.
This is where we had our reception, and where Serious Risk played a few times. Now it's old people's homes!
The Bridge Inn at Topsham. You can sit in the garden drinking fantastic warm beer and watch Little Egrets and huge Grey Mullet just yards away. Nearby, at Dart's Farm, is the classiest fish & chip shop in the world: fresh Sea Bass and Champagne!
Yet another Topsham pub with memories. Mornings have usually been the times we've sat here and eaten tuna sandwiches. It was here we discovered curly chips!
Ter Bruge: our Hotel in Bruges. We stayed here for a week with Mary & Eddy in 2003: really enjoyable, especially the food! I sat on the bridge painting a few times: though I say so myself, they were little gems!
The flower market in Bruges. Totally spectacular, as were the hot food and fish stalls! The beer and chocolate was just as advertised: a hard place to be on a diet!
A view Linda & I have enjoyed many times: the Eiffel
Tower seen from the Trocadero Park. Just wonderful!
This was Spring 2007: Paris was, as ever, beautiful and romantic.
OK: a bit of a cliche! But Sacre Coeur really is a beautiful place, and the view is sensational.
The Ibis Hotel at Le Portel, Boulogne. We've stayed
here many times on our 2-day cross-channel hops.
This was the scene of our near disaster on a snowy
pre-Christmas shopping trip in 2001!
Happy memories, though....
The Mercure Hotel in Le Touquet. We stayed here for four nights in 2006. A little extravagant, I suppose, but from here we were able to explore Crecy, Marquenterre. Sailly Bray.... And we had some lovely meals, too!
We watched a Green Woodpecker from our balcony most mornings!
Just beautiful: the Forest of Crecy. We chased little warblers around the dense woodland for hours: all we got were fleeting glimpses! But we did see a Honey Buzzard and a puddle full of crested newt tadpoles!
Well yes: another pub!
Actually, Linda & I hardly ever go in pubs,
but there are a few that hold memories for us.
This is the Dun Cow at Salthouse, where we've
even had lunch on New Year's Day!
