| This
is David Bryant: rhythm / lead
and vocals. David took over the singing from Norfolk soul-man Tony Spencer
in the mid eighties. David had worked in a large number of bands since 1965,
before (having seen David on a BBC TV programme) bassist Paul Morgan approached
him to join the newly-formed 'Sirius' before their first gig. David
can still be coaxed to play his pre-CBS Stratocaster at parties and jam
sessions! |

Ex-vocalist
with influential cabaret unit 'Spencer's Children' Tony
Spencer
handled most of the lead vocals for the Risk's first three
years. He had a sensational soul voice, but could be a little unpredictable
at times! His stage performances were notable for their energy and sensuality,
as well as the ever-present pint of Southern Comfort. If you read this
Tony, I still have your tambourine!

| Youngest
member of Serious Risk (by a long way!) was lead guitarist and vocalist
Howie Marsh. Howie was a great
natural talent and, like many lead players, was obsessed with technology!
If it was new and made a loud noise, Howie had to have it! His amp went
up to TWELVE! Having said which, Howie's pride and joy was his vintage Fender
amp and Gibson SG. Following
severe tendonitis, Howie gave up playing for
three years: soon after the Risks split up.... He's playing again, now,
though: with another old friend Garth Coupland. HERE'S the band's website! |

Bassist Paul
Morgan was co-founder of the band with Howie. Paul cut
his musical teeth in the sixties, playing the clubs of South Wales with
some top names, including Dave Edmunds.
Like David, Paul still has all his gear! (Apart from his bass stack, that is: his daughter Jess uses that in her band!) He keeps threatening to give it 'one more go', only nobody asks him! |
| Colin
Chettleburgh
played joint lead with the band very early on: he was a lyrical
(if somewhat 'busy') guitarist, who could be a little inclined to 'turn
it up a wee bit' at gigs! Still: a good guy who probably should still be
playing out there somewhere! |

Serious Risk
had four drummers: this was the best! Chris
Gray ex 'The Veil' (and fifty-odd other bands!) was called
in to dep for Chris Bould in 1990, liked the money and alcohol and kept
playing! Still see him and his sax-playing other half at jam sessions.
|
| And
here's another! Colin Alden :
a real nice guy, but he had the sense of rhythm of a very bad Catholic!
He did record some of our early gigs and
always bought his round (and ours too!) But if we had a party, he'd turn
up last! (groan!) |

Another good one! Chris Bould, who looked sooooooo much like a young Geronimo! This is Chris recording with us at Purple Studios: he was the consumate professional. Think he moved to Hull or somewhere....... |
